Ready Care Foundation envisions a community where:
Hepatitis Ready Care is a 501-(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Tallahassee, Florida. The Foundation has been established in an effort to make a difference in the pandemic of hepatitis. It is also a tribute to Robert E. Douglas IV, who died October 10, 2001 at the age of 23, only 5 days after learning that he had hepatitis C.
My name is Cherry Douglas, and I am Rob’s mother. I also came very close to dying from hepatitis C. After Rob’s death I became very sick from the hepatitis that I had known I had since 1996. I underwent interferon treatment that made me very sick, but at this point in time the virus can’t be detected on a blood test. The horror of the disease for every patient is that it will always be in the liver, but I am as close to being cured as medical science can get me at this time.
It is the passionate hope of all of us who are working with Hepatitis Ready Care to do everything in our power to get treatment and support for those who already know they have hepatitis and liver disease. Another goal is to help those who have not yet been diagnosed with the disease to identify its presence or prevent its contraction. For those who are not treatable, we will offer both help and hope.
Chronic disease is very difficult both physically and emotionally, not only for the patient, but also for their families and loved ones. It is our goal to provide moral and emotional support to everyone that has been affected.
Hepatitis Ready Care has plans to educate the public about the causes and the prevention of the disease. The answer to the entire hepatitis pandemic is prevention! Mrs. Melinda Gates put it very well during World Hepatitis Day when she stated, “Hepatitis is becoming a grave problem, and prevention, to a great extent, is still in our hands”.
The Ready Care Foundation, with your help and support, is ready to launch our mission to make a real difference in all forms of hepatitis. What better way to honor Rob, and anyone that you might know who has been affected by this disease? .
Hepatitis Ready Care's Federal Identification Number is 14-1972094SS4.
